Intestinal parasites: what they are, how infestation occurs, what are the symptoms. What kind of prevention to adopt and what are the most effective remedies to combat intestinal parasitosis.

Intestinal parasites are microorganisms that live in the intestine, the presence of which alters the bacterial flora creating an intestinal infection better known as intestinal parasitosis

L'intestinal infestation of these organisms can occur through the ingestion of water or contaminated food, especially meat and fish or, in the case of vegetables, not washed properly but in some cases also by sexual transmission. Certain food intolerances also increase the risk of intestinal parasites. The subjects most predisposed to contracting the infection are those with low immune defenses, children and people living in promiscuous environments.

Intestinal parasites, symptoms

There is a wide variety of parasites living in our environment known by various scientific names and various sizes; more than 170 varieties of intestinal parasites are currently listed. Some can stay in the intestine for years without showing symptoms. Others, however, can cause different symptoms such as:

  • chronic fatigue,
  • headache
  • diarrhea,
  • constipation
  • nausea
  • He retched
  • stomach ache
  • temperature
  • stomach pain
  • alterations in the mood (nervousness, irritability).
  • itching in the anus
  • sudden weight loss
  • changes in the appearance of the stool.
  • loss of appetite or, on the contrary, increased appetite. Some devour freshly ingested food, which is why you still feel hungry after every meal

How do you ascertain the presence of intestinal parasites

As already mentioned, intestinal parasites can harm our health; they can attack and significantly weaken the human body. The situation can become even more complex when intestinal parasitosis is not diagnosed in a timely manner since the symptoms can be confused with other diseases. When physical discomfort occurs, it is always good to investigate thoroughly to understand the triggering cause. The decisive factor for the assessment is the use of stool tests.

Intestinal parasites, prevention and remedies

To prevent the infestation of intestinal parasites, the first step is to maintain maximum personal hygiene. Never forget to wash your hands after using the bathroom. In this regard, we recommend teaching children the basic principles of hygiene as soon as possible. If intestinal parasites or other forms of parasites have already entered the body, then prevention is no longer sufficient.

How can we intervene to fight intestinal parasites? First of all it is good to follow the therapy recommended by the specialist. Even natural remedies can prove to be a valid option in the treatment of intestinal parasitosis.

Nutrition

No remedy will be effective if all those foods that serve as a source of nutrition for parasites are not eliminated. Many foods we consume keep them strong and even facilitate their proliferation.

Therefore, during this time you should avoid: red meat, undercooked meat, refined foods, packaged juices, dairy products and all sugars, except honey. Instead, increase the consumption of fibers as they are essential for proper intestinal cleansing and health. Increase hydration. therefore drink plenty of water between meals, so as to facilitate the digestion of fibers and promote their antiparasitic action.

Another aspect not to be overlooked is the regular consumption of probiotics: they help keep the digestive tract healthy and balance the bacterial flora.

Healing herbs

There are some herbs that can help kill parasites and strengthen the immune system:

  • Oregano oil: many recommend it in the treatment against intestinal parasites, thanks to its antibacterial and antiparasitic action
  • Cloves: According to experts, it can destroy almost all parasite eggs. Clove has antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal and antimicrobial properties
  • Black walnut: helps expel intestinal parasites thanks to its anthelmintic action,
  • Pine: strengthens the immune system thanks to its antiseptic properties,

Hygiene

Hygiene also plays a decisive role against intestinal parasites. Inadequate hygiene conditions and having swum in dirty water or walking barefoot exposes you to risk. Children are more easily exposed to parasites due to their tendency to put their hands in their mouths.
