Good water recirculation, combined with good filtration and above all an excellent skimmer, will remove this problem and above all avoid the formation ofbacterial patinas and filamentsunsightly protruding from rocks.

The skimmer purifies the water by eliminating all the compounds resulting from the degradation of organic matter and the metabolism of all the organisms that populate your aquarium. The skimmer mechanically eliminates part of the compounds dispersed in the water before they enter the nitrogen cycle, preventing the formation of nitrites and nitrates.

Which skimmer to choose? Among the best on the market, best understood both as a relationshipquality pricethat as a filtering capacity of the water, I would like to point out the Tunze 9004 DC model (with digital adjustment of skimming). It can be bought on Amazon at the price of 176.10 euros. The same model, without digital adjustment of the skimming (but with the classic valve to turn) can be bought for about 140 euros. But be careful to size it appropriately! The skimmer that I have reported to you is suitable for "nano reef" or "cube" (ie very small) aquariums and for larger aquariums and embraces a capacity ranging from 60 to 300 liters. According to the manufacturer (the Tunze) it can be mounted both inside and outside the tank (both magnets for internal mounting and a stand for the external one come out in the package), however I do not recommend mounting it externally because its effectiveness decreases slightly.
