Basset Fauve de Bretagne, a small and very lively dog, full of energy which makes him very fast, especially when compared with other dogs of similar size. This animal has a rather elongated skull, a black nose and a noticeable but not very abundant mustache. Very alert dark eyes, tail carried like a saber and tawny hair. The mantle of the Basset Fauve de Bretagne it can take on shades ranging from wheat-golden to brick, with some black hairs scattered on the back and ears, if it happens, and some small white spots on the chest which are tolerated by standards but not sought after.

Cuddly but lively, and definitely of character, this French dog who is very happy with children also because he loves to play, is always cheerful and it has no tendency to aggression or nervousness.

Most of the herds of this breed are found in France, its homeland and the country where it is most widespread today. Originally the specimens were bred for hunting, the French hunters appreciated them for hunting hare and rabbits and also for their knowledge adapt to any type of terrain and climate.

Over the years the breed has been crossed with others, with the "Bassetto Vendeano ", for example, but not only, but today the Basset Fauve de Bretagne is very similar to the original physically but also in character: brave, smart and tenacious, but also affectionate and cheerful in the family.

From an early age the puppies of Basset Fauve de Bretagne they must be fed in a healthy way so as not to risk obesity or bone and muscle problems. As adults I reach a height at the withers that it goes from 32 to 38 cm. From a character point of view, puppies are even more lively, but educable, then as they grow up they reach a good balance and can be kept indoors.
